Rome=Heaven

Nothing could be more of a stark contrast than Moscow and Rome. Im not trying to down play Russia, because it was an amazing experience. Im just saying its 70 degrees and sunny and there is pizza and gelato on every corner....and in between corners as well. We flew in yesterday and after finding our hotel we wandered around and began an eating frenzy that has lasted two days. We went to the colosseum first. Brandons eyes were had a special sparkle. I knew he was day dreaming about being a gladiator and...of course, swords. We also visited the Spanish Steps after dark and brandon had a romantic moment and bought me a rose. And by "bought" I mean one of those crafty gypsies guilted us into it. It was a nice flower. Today we saw every single famous landmark in Rome and wore our feet down to bloody little stubs. Ok, not really. We saw some awesome things! We started out with St. Peters and the Sistine Chapel. Then we headed to the Piazza Nivona, Pantheon, and Trevi fountain. We ended todays sight seeing at the roman forum and other ruins. It was nice to relax and walk around, while taking in some beautiful sights. The flowers are blooming and everything is green. April is the right time to visit Rome. We tried uploading images, but its slow and we are paying by the minute. We will try again later. Ciao!

When you went to the Colosseum did you get a chance to walk the hypogeum - the underground? I heard they opened it to the public in October. It's exciting reading your stories, Thanks for sharing! :)
